The much awaited African Cleanup Conference (ACC) and Award scheduled to hold from 23rd to 26th August will commence Thursday in Lome, Capital City of Togo.
The conference organised by African Cleanup Initiative (ACI) in partnership with JVE International is expected to explore the business side of environment for a more robust eco-business experience.
It is themed: “The Business of Environmental Sustainability” while about 100 delegates within the African continent are expected to design a roadmap for a greener and cleaner Africa.
AgroNature Nigeria is one of the official media partners to provide media coverage for the international conference and Award.
Stakeholders expected to converge at the conference include experienced environmentalists. Previous speakers were Desmond Majekodumi, Ola Oresanya, Isaac Mbit Bryant, Simon Turner, Yahaya Ahmed and few others.
In a statement made available to AgroNature Nigeria, in Abuja, ACI Chief Environmental Officer, Alex Akhigbe, stated that the responsibility of addressing environmental issues in Africa should be a collective effort that ought to be championed first by Africans.
He identified need to creatively determine and explore ways of successful environmental campaign within the environment space.
It reads: “Africa Clean Up Conference and Award creates a platform for Africans to congregate and discuss their peculiar environmental challenges and determine indigenous solutions that best tackle their issues.
“More so, it encourages and motivates for greater good individuals and organizations whose initiative and best sustainable practice is contributing to conserve Africa.
“We cannot over emphasize that the dearth of information among our citizens makes environmental best practices in African a mirage. Exploring the business aspect of environmental sustainability will bring renewed insights to addressing our challenges while gaining economic and social impacts”.
“It’s that time in the year for the 2018 African Clean Up Conference and Award. Away from the hazards of inappropriate environmental practices, Africans will congregate from the 23rd to the 26th August, 2018 in Lome, Togo.” It stated further.
The organisers noted that the knowledge-based conference would feature an Award Night, Green Tour to a recycling unit in Togo, Green Exhibition/Fair and Networking.
“During the award night, individuals and organization making positive impact in the environmental and community development space will be recognized and celebrated.”
ACI started the journey of addressing the African environmental experiences by Africans in 2016 in Nigeria. It was hosted by Ghana in 2017 in partnership with African Youth Organisation.
