President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday applauded Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) for his re-election.
Adesina is to pilot affairs of the bank for the next four years.
He became the AfDB President in 2015 after serving as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under the administration of the former president Goodluck Jonathan.
But while congratulating Adesina in person, Buhari described the former minister as good Nigerian that has proved his worth.

“In 2015, Akin Adesina was a minister with the PDP government, and I belonged to the APC. I fully supported him for the AfDB Presidency. He proved competent, made us proud, and I was delighted to recommend him for the second term,” Buhari stated via his verified person.
“Today, I congratulated him in person on winning re-election to a second and final term in office. Nothing succeeds like success. He has been very supportive of our administration, and I wish him all the best in the second term.”
Beyond Buhari’s commendation, other notable African leaders such as Sirleaf Johnson, former Liberian President and Cyril Ramaphosa also hailed the agriculturist.
