MOHAMMED Sabo, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on Friday challenged youths in the country to drive the newly created farm mechanisation programme.
As part of efforts to promote mechanised farming, the ministry recently signed agreement with some foreign investors to provide about 10, 000 farm machinery.
The ministry also strives to facilitate an agreement where such machinery would be assembled in the country.
However, he made the call while meeting a delegation of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) in Abuja.
He is words: “The youth should drive the new agricultural Mechanization process in Nigeria because the future belongs to them, therefore you must be focus and ambitious to achieve this great objective.”
He further promised to support youth led initiatives in the sector to realise the nation’s goal on food sufficiency.
