CONTRARY to claims Monday morning that Ogoni was on fire due to an inferno allegedly caused by Shell, a multinational oil company, Sharon Ikeazor, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Environment on Monday night debunked the assertion.
“Please note SPDC pipeline at B-Dere is not on fire,” she stated on her verified twitter handle.
“The fire is said to be from a stolen crude oil laden truck,” the minister added attributing the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA).
Though, an official statement is yet to be issued by the oil spill management agency of the ministry, response from the minister is acknowledged to have restored already frayed nerve due to information.
