Interpol Partners Biosafety Agency on GM Regulations

In order to better exercise it’s regulatory functions, Interpol on Wednesday disclosed it’s readiness to work with the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA).

The Commissioner in charge of Interpol Nigerian Police Force, Olushola Subair said the interpol will collaborate with NBMA in areas of trainings, provision of protective Kits and equipments and to ensure that the mandate of the agency is achieved.

Speaking during his visit to the NBMA Director General, Dr. Rufus Egbeba, in Abuja, the interpol commissioner in Nigeria said the gesture will further strength the regulatory body.

He commended NBMA for its pivotal role towards protecting the country from unlicensed GM products.

Egbeba, in his remarks noted that essence of the visit is to seek collaboration with the interpol in other to ensure the safe deployment of GMOS in the country.

He further applauded the interpol for the initiative.
